Original price was: £34.95.Current price is: £29.95.
Here is a new and highly detailed model of the ship RFA Sir Bedivere SLEP  (modernised)version. L3004. She was commissioned in 1967 and saw extensive service in many naval operations since. Her home port was Marchwood.  In 1982 at Ascension she picked up the sappers of 11 Field Squadron Royal Engineers. She suffered slight damage whilst lying in San Carlos Water when a Skyhawk dropped a bomb that glanced off the ship.  In 1994, the ship was modernised in a service life extension programme to give it an extra 15 years. The ship was lengthened by 12 m, had superstructure altered, new engines  and the ship's bow thrusters were improved.  This model is of the modernised version. SLEP. After returning to service in 1998, the ship was sent to Sierra Leone in 2000, and in 2002 the Mediterranean and was diverted to the Persian Gulf  accompanied by four British minesweepers. The ship returned to the U.K. in May 2003, carrying the boats and men of 539 Assault Squadron RM.  In  2008, she was sold to Brazil, joining her sister ship Sir Galahad (XAS 003). She was handed over in 2009, after a major refit in Falmouth. She was renamed NDCC Almirante Saboia (G-25).  Thanks to Wikipedia for info. The model is made of resin and metal, released  July 2020. ref N05.

She is 85metres in length, 3599 gross tonnes and has 7 officers and 11 crew. I saw her in 2019 in the Bristol Channel outside Ilfracombe harbour and thought that she and her sister would be a good addition to any ship collection. Super model. Catalogue ref M02, This model is 70mm or 2.5 inches in length

  •  NLV Pharos is based in Oban and works for the Northern Lighthouse Board mainly in Scottish and Manx waters, servicing over 200 automatic lighthouses, buoys and beacons. She is also able to carry out hydrographic surveying and wreck finding and other commercial work under contract. She is the tenth NLB ship to carry this name which is named after the very famous lighthouse at Alexandria in Ancient Egypt, one of the 7 Wonders of the World. Pharos and her sister ship, Galatea were built in Gdansk in Poland  in 2006/07. She is 85metres in length, 3599 gross tonnes and has 7 officers and 11 crew. Catalogue number M03 This model is 70mm or 2.5 inches in length. In 2020 there was a news item about this ship which was in Oban port. Because of lockdown the crew had to stay on board before their next duty. But from his gran's garden a little boy could see his daddy who was Captain of Pharos.  A case of waving and not hugging. So as we were making Galatea it made a lot of sense to make Pharos too.  Brilliant models imho.
