MY TRIBUTE TO DAVE LOVE

Dave was an engineer, artist, sculptor, designer, inventor and producer of hundreds of ships, aircraft, spaceships, and dockyards. He founded the Mountford Company in about 2002, sold it on to MT Miniatures and this was then sold to CN Collectables which led to us working on  so many projects such as the Falklands 40th Anniversary in 2022.

Dave was a joy and a wonder to know. A man of so many talents, creative, practical, and scientific. His endless curiosity and enthusiasm together with his search for new and better production methods and the invention of new materials never ceased to amaze me. My life has been enriched and expanded since meeting and working to make ship models together. I say we but Dave did all the design, the realisation, the technology, and I just did the marketing and retail.

For CN Collectables Dave created at least 64 brand new ships, 80 aircraft, 39 submarines and five amazing kits of the Devonport Dockyard and Dover Ferryport. He also improved and updated another 79 ships.

He became a good friend, a wise advisor and is a legend in the world of model ships and harbours. When we last met in January 2025 Dave was very excited by new alloys he had created and tested. He could recognise any problem and always come up with a choice of solutions. He had new great ideas for our 2025 ferry project which I shall try to fulfil.

Dear Dave, we had a lot of fun working together and I will always treasure our friendship.
